Ordering from Lead Legion couldn't be easier. Simply email us at the contact details below and provide us with as much information about your order and painting preferences as possible. We'll email you back with a quote using a Pay Pal invoice. If you're happy, simply pay through Paypal and we'll begin work on your order as soon as your miniatures arrive. If you want to clarify any points on the invoice, simply email us again and we'll be happy to discuss your concerns.
If you're a non-gamer looking to buy on behalf of a gamer, bear in mind that we offer an Army Buyer service to all our customers free of charge.
Please be sure to read through the following points below in order to ensure we receive all the information we need regarding your order as quickly as possible. We're not asking you to write an essay
on the subject (but if you want to, that's fine with us) but the more
detailed the instructions you provide, the happier you'll be with the finished product.
Please note: for your peace of mind (and ours) we only ever accept payment through Paypal.
Things to Consider in Your Email:
The Miniatures:
Please don't send us
previously painted models for re-painting (with the exception of die-cast toys). We do not have the
facilities to offer a paint-stripping service at this time. So unless
the previous paint-job is particularly thin, we may just have to send
your miniatures (and your payment) straight back to you. Sorry.
Spears:
Please bear in mind that many manufacturers don't actually provide spears (or lances for that matter) with their miniatures. You may have to order these separately. Alternatively, we can order them on your behalf. the cost of the spears will appear on your invoice.Assembly and Cleaning:
This is included in the
basic price, but some of our customers prefer to send us miniatures
they've assembled themselves. If you have any preferences with
regards to weapon mix, posing, distribution of extra equipment and so
on; please be sure to tell us before we begin assembly. This is particularly important when
painting miniatures for games with multiple
variations in unit size and equipment.
Basing:
It's standard practise for us to use the bases provided by the manufacturer when
assembling and painting your models. If the miniatures don't come with
bases -or if you wish to use different bases- we may have to charge you
extra in order to cover the costs of ordering appropriate bases for you
(we only ever charge the actual cost of the bases themselves). Please be
sure to inform us in your email how you want the actual bases painted.
Our default basing practise is to use a mixture of fine sand painted brown
followed by 2-3 layers of highlights with patches of static grass. Most customers seem to be happy
with this, but if you have something special in mind (snow, streets,
rubble, paving, desert, dungeon floors, jungle terrain) let us know and
we'll see what we can go do. Many of the painted miniatures in our
galleries have alternate basing styles that you can use for inspiration.
Paints:
Do you have a preferred
range of paints you would like us to use? Bear in mind that we will
provide you with a complete list of all paints used in the process of
painting your miniatures, along with a step-by-step guide to how we
painted them.
Colour Scheme:
What's your preferred
colour scheme? Try to be as detailed as possible. Simply telling us
what Army you want us to paint is often enough for our needs but this fails to take into account any of the small details that personalise an army and make it distinctly yours. Generally it's best to be as detailed as possible. Just bear in mind that we don't include blending or free hand symbol-painting. Please don't expect us to paint complex symbols by hand. Free hand painting and blending are very time intensive. We'd rather keep our turnaround time low and our prices even lower. If we offered blending or free-hand, we'd be much more expensive.
However, we do use decals extensively.
Decals and Weathering:
If you'd like us to use
the decals provided with the miniatures (either your own or those
provided by the manufacturer) there is a 25p surcharge per miniature.
Not per decal. If you'd
like us to supply the decals from our own stocks then I'm afraid the
cost rises to 50p per miniature. Some decals are more
expensive than others, and we have to be sure that the amount we
charge for any given order will cover the cost of supply.
As for weathering, some light weathering is included in the basic price, should you wish it. However, extensive weathering can be time consuming and may also require a small surcharge. This will be handled on a case by case basis.

You can, of course, elect not to have us apply any decals or weathering at all if you'd rather do that yourself. If so, we'll return any decals provided by the manufacturer along with your painted miniatures.
Spare Bits, Kit Bashing and Conversions:
Speaking of bit's we don't use, many miniatures (especially plastic kits) come with extra parts such as spare heads, arms, torso's and weapons. We will return these spare parts with your painted miniatures by default. However, there's lot of things we can do with spare parts. Sometimes customers request models be given pieces of equipment that aren't found in the model kits they provide us with. We like to keep a stash of spare parts for precisely this purpose. If you'd be willing to let us keep these spare bits, please tell us. We (and future customers) would be very grateful. And we won't forget your generosity either.
Let us know if you'd rather we didn't personalise your mini's in this manner and if you want your spare parts back. It's all the same to us either way.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Regards
Brian.
